1. Soju with Beer (Somaek)

Soju is taking Singapore by storm! While some might find it too strong to drink on its own, did you know that it goes surprisingly well with beer? It enhances the sweetness of the beer while making it smooth. Koreans call this concoction Somaek, an abbreviation of 2 Korean words; Soju (Soju) and Maekju (Beer).

  1. Choose your favourite flavour of Soju (Original, Grapefruit, White Grape, etc).
  2. Pour half a pint of beer into a glass.
  3. Pour either 125ml of Soju or 2 Shots. Stir well.
  4. Bonus: A Korean trick by using chopsticks to mix; put 1 chopsticks at each end of the cup, and bring them together fast in a clapping motion so the liquid and gas from the beer stirs by itself.

Recommended Item: ToTT Copper Plated Heavy Jigger

2. Espresso Stout

Go bold with this creamy concoction that brings out the intense coffee aroma and deep roasted malt. Pair this thirst quencher with a Seafood Pie for an extra ooomph. Definitely a favourite for those looking for intensity and richness in their drinks!

  1. Pour 10ml of cold espresso into a small jug and add 10ml of coffee liqueur (Kahlua/Baileys).

  2. Shake the mixture and strain it into a salted pint glass.
  3. Flip a Corona upside down and place it into the drink
  4. Enjoy as the Corona dispenses slowly into your Coronarita!

Recommended Item: ToTT Copper Plated 2-Piece Cocktail Shaker

4. Beer Găo

Time for a recipe created right here in Singapore ! You’ve probably heard people at your hawker centres ordering their Coffee through terms like Kopi O Kosong, Kopi Xiu Dai, or even Kopi Gao! But did you know you can order a BeerGao too?! This local favourite is a simple concoction that combines the refreshing zest of lager and deep nutty flavours of stout.

  1. Pour ½ pint of lager beer into glass.
  2. Pour ½ pint of stout into a glass and stir.
  3. Sit back, relax.
  4. Bonus: Test your local hawker’s level of customer service and just shout “Beer Gao!”; chances are, they’ll bring you exactly what you need!

Recommended Item: Spiegelau Lager Beer Glass Collection

5. Michelada

Michelada, is a must-have summer drink! With a right balance of cold light beer, hot sauce, zesty lime juice and Worcestershire, be prepared to be blown away by this refreshing and flavourful drink. Salud!

6 Essentials for Easy Lunch Packing (For School and Work!)

Packing your own nutritious lunch gives you a healthy, pocket-friendly and tasty meal, rather than reaching for the frozen section at the supermarket, the school canteen or greasy take-out on the way home.

If you’re new to food prepping for a week’s worth of packed lunches, we’re here to help! These lunch box gadgets make packing lunch fun AND ensure that they’re still in one piece when it’s meal time.

1. Silicone Storage Bowls & Boxes

The Lex Living line of products are perfect vehicles for transporting your packed lunch from the kitchen to your office/canteen. The Silicone Multi Purpose Cooker with Herb Pouch ensures uniform distribution of aromas. A simple push of the top plug of the cover provides airtight storage and refrigeration. The container is also collapsible and is 100% food grade material and BPA free. The Foldable Storage Bowl folds up with its cover, and the Collapsible Soup Box is designed to be airtight and leak-proof – perfect for storing cereal, soup and more!

2. Silicone Muffin Cases

Silicone muffin cases are great for dividing larger container compartments. You can use them to separate your crunchy veggies such as carrots and cucumbers, or even place your dips such as hummus or guacamole to separate them from your ‘softer’ foods in the container. Or, bake a batch of Banana Muffins with Granola (check out our trusty recipe here) and take them with you for breakfast, or a mid-day snack! These cases are flexible and almost unbreakable – saving you costs in the long run!

3. Multi-Purpose Vegetable Chopper

When your recipe calls for chopped carrots, peppers or for your carrot sticks to go with your dips, you’ll want the Mastrad Multi-Purpose Vegetable Chopper on hand. It easily cuts all vegetables into cubes, sticks and slices! The nonporous design of the multi chopper prevents the accumulation of bacteria and food particles between the head and the handle which ensures healthy feeding with less cleaning and also comes with a cleaning brush to ensure complete and easy cleaning.

4. Bamboo Fibre Lunch Boxes

This one’s for the kids! These colourful, durable and kids-safe dishware is easy to handle for small hands, helps contain mess and provides an environmental solution to plastic dishware. Available in-store, ToTT @ Dunearn.

5.Silicone Sorbet Moulds/ Yoghurt Tubes

These Ibili Silicone Sorbet Moulds can be used to create your very own pop treats at home – but you can also use them as portable yoghurt tubes! Buy a large container of yoghurt and portion them into these moulds instead of buying individually-packaged yoghurt cups. They’ll definitely help you to cut down on costs! Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s way more fun enjoying your yoghurt from these adorable tubes. 😉 They can also be used to hold nuts, cheese cubes and berries!

6. Egg Slicer

Slice your eggs, tomatoes and avocadoes easily with the handy dandy Westmark Egg Slicer – it’ll be sure to make your morning routine a little easier, and a little less messy!
